Police: Speed, Possibly Alcohol Were Factors In Fatal Motorcycle Crash
The motorcycle struck a car that was trying to turn left off of Sugarloaf Parkway.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — Speed, and possibly alcohol, were factors in a deadly motorcycle crash over the weekend on Sugarloaf Parkway, police say.
At about 5:45 p.m. Saturday, Jeffrey D. Hochstetler, 21, of Screven, was driving his motorcycle northbound on Sugarloaf Parkway when he struck a car that was attempting to turn east onto Villa Ridge Parkway.
He hit the car, a 2010 Honda Civic, in the passenger's side door with enough force to flip over onto its roof. Both vehicles landed a few feet away from the point of impact, according to Gwinnett County Police.

Hochstetler, who was driving a 2003 Yamaha, died as a result of his injuries.
The driver of the Civic, a 32-year-old woman, was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center and her passenger, a 4-year-old child, was taken to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston. Both had non-life threatening injuries, according to the police report.

Speed, "and possibly alcohol," were factors in the crash, the police report said. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
