Sushi Restaurant Fails Inspection With Super-Low 31

The Gwinnett restaurant had a long list of violations after its inspection on Thursday.

DULUTH, GA β€” A sushi restaurant in Duluth failed its health inspection Thursday, scoring just a 31 on a 100-point scale.

Sing Sing Sushi, at 2476 Pleasant Hill Rd., will be inspected again within the next week. If it fails inspection again, it could be shut down until health issues are properly addressed.

Inspectors on Thursday listed 19 violations that they witnessed during the inspections.

They included fruit flies in the kitchen, employees' personal items being stored on top of clean dishes, two coolers not maintaining proper temperatures and a garden hose being used to clean fish.

Improper methods were being used to cool and thaw food, including raw fish, a shelf above a sink used to prepare fish was rusty, avocados that had been cut and stored still had stickers on them and kim chi that had been prepared the previous week did not have a date marked on it.

Cooked shrimp and octopus were being stored in the same container as raw fish, unwashed vegetables were mixed in with washed vegetables, unwashed produce was being stored above ready-to-serve sauces and raw fish was being stored in the same container as cooked imitation crab.

An employee was seen coming in from outdoors and arranging items in a cooler without washing hands and some fish at the restaurant did not have proper documentation that bacteria had been destroyed.

The restaurant had received an 89/B on its last graded inspection, in December.
