2 Charged In Killing Of Jefferson Teen Make Court Appearance

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA β Two teens accused in the killing of 17-year-old Elijah Dewitt had their first court appearance Wednesday morning in Gwinnett County.
The judge told Kemare Bryan, 18, and Chandler Richardson, 19, that a superior court judge has to grant them a bond.
The pair was arrested and charged on suspicion of killing Dewitt, who was found dead on Oct. 5 in the Sugarloaf Mills Mall parking lot.

Dewitt's mother previously told Fox 5 Atlanta the shooting was a botched robbery attempt.
Both Bryan and Richardson are being charged on suspicion of felony murder, malice murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of felonies.

The two were extradited to the Gwinnett County Jail Tuesday and were still in custody as of Wednesday morning, according to jail records.
They were initially scheduled to be taken to the county jail Monday from the Anderson County Sheriff's Office in South Carolina, Gwinnett police said.
Richardson and Bryan appeared in court the day a funeral was planned for Dewitt.
According to Fox 5 Atlanta, Dewitt's funeral is 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Jefferson High School arena, 575 Washington St. The teen was a Jefferson High football player.
