Third Annual Youth Police Academy Applications Being Accepted
The Gwinnett County Police Department is proud to announce that we will be hosting their third annual summer Youth Police Academy.
LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — The Gwinnett County Police Department is proud to announce that we will be hosting their third annual summer Youth Police Academy. The Youth Police Academy, or YPA, is designed to educate middle school and high school students that live in Gwinnett County about the police department and how officers enforce local and state laws. The goal of the YPA is to create and develop a relationship with students and give them an opportunity to learn about the Gwinnett County Police Department’s role in the community and the services it provides.
In 2016 and 2017, the Gwinnett County Police Department saw tremendous success with the summer program. The students enjoyed interacting with the officers and learning about the multitude of jobs performed by the staff.
The YPA is free of charge and is open to all students that reside in Gwinnett County who will be enrolled in middle school or high school as of August 2018. Each student must successfully pass the application process to attend the YPA.
