Woman Accused Of DUI That Killed 2 Back in Jail

Jessica Jean Peterson, 29, is accused of driving 91 m.p.h. on Buford Highway before the crash that killed two people in 2014.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — A Gwinnett County woman accused of killing two people while driving under the influence in 2014 is back in jail.

Jessica Jean Peterson, 29, was booked into Gwinnett County Jail on March 28, according to the jails docket book.

The Buford woman's bondsman withdrew the bond keeping her out of jail, according to the document. She was booked on two counts of vehicular homicide, DUI, child endangerment, reckless driving and speeding.

Jones was originally arrested in October 2014 after authorities say she was driving 91 m.p.h. on Buford Highway and at nearly twice the legal limit of alcohol. She crashed, killing Steve Barco, 48, and Brandon Pellien, 29.

The portion of Buford Highway had a speed limit of 45 m.p.h. Peterson's Pontiac Grand Am reportedly hit the car being driven by Pellien, and in which Barco was a passenger, at about 2:15 a.m.

Peterson's husband and two children also were inside her vehicle at the time of the crash.

Authorities say Peterson's blood-alcohol level was .147 — well above Georgia's limit of .o8.

She has been indicted by a grand jury, but her case has not yet reached trial. She had been out on a $38,000 bond.
