• Obituary and funeral service: James Richard Ashe, Sr., 79, of Monroe (monroelocal.org) — A Monroe family is preparing to honor James Richard “Dick” Ashe, Sr., who was born in Madison and later served 13 years in the U.S. Navy. Loved for his humor, photography, love of dogs, and work as a locksmith and mechanic, he will be remembered at a memorial service in Monroe on August 1.
