• Newton BOC OKs changes to landfill permit (covnews.com) — Mansfield residents are now covered under an updated Newton County Solid Waste Management Plan, already approved by the city, that supports major changes to the county landfill’s permit. The revisions raise the landfill’s height, shrink its footprint away from the Yellow River, add composting, and extend its life by about four years. County officials say the landfill remains financially self-supporting aside from prior lawsuit debt.
