Man Killed In Marietta Crash Identified

The couple's minivan crashed into a guardrail and tumbled down an embankment Wednesday.

MARIETTA, GA — A man who died Wednesday morning after a minivan crashed into a guardrail and tumbled down an embankment in Marietta has been identified.

Marietta Police said Edgar Perez, 45, died in the crash near the Bells Ferry Road overpass.

The 2016 Toyota Sienna minivan was going north on Interstate 75 around 5:30 a.m. when it hit the right guardrail just before the I-75 bridge over Bells Ferry Road, police said. The vehicle flipped over the guardrail and rolled down a large embankment toward Bells Ferry Lane, police said.

Perez was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Perez's wife, who was driving the minivan when she lost control of it, was injured in the accident. She was taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital with serious injuries, police said.
