Recently members of Congregation Ner Tamid and leaders of other Atlanta area synagogues gathered at at the Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield Visitor’s Center, where a Kaddish presided over by Joe Rosenfeld was held to memorialize the 10-15,000 Jewish soldiers on both sides of the Civil War. Following the ceremony, congregants carrying the congregation’s torahs marched from the battlefield to their first permanent location, 1349 Old Hwy 41, Suite 220, Marietta, in the Kennesaw Mountain Business Park, about a mile away. Once there, a dedication ceremony was held, with a stunning Mezuzah being hung, followed by remarks from our President and Past President and honored guests, Attorney Gen Sam Olens, Rick Aranson of the Jewish Federation, Stephanie Oreck from JF & CS and Dr. Catherine Lewis from KSU and the Museum of World War II and Holocaust Education. This was followed by remarks and a Havdalha service from the congregation’s Rabbi, Thomas Liebschutz.
