Pamela Cole will give a talk on dating old portrait photographs and paintings on Saturday, June 30th, 2012 at 2 pm, 4 pm and 6 pm at Avery Gallery, Inc. 390 Roswell St. The talks will be followed by a question and answer period, and folks may bring in their own old photos or portraits to be analyzed. There is a small charge to have one or more dated. It is less than one third of her usual fee.
She will tell how clothing, hair-styles and accessories such as jewelry determine when a photo portrait was taken or a portrait painted.
Pamela Cole is a professional Costumier in the Metro - Atlanta area.
She is a graduate of Chicago's Goodman Theatre in Costume Design and Building. She began her career in Georgia with the Cobb - Marietta Ballet Co., now the Georgia Ballet. Over the years Mrs. Cole has worked with the Academy Dance Company, Kennesaw University for both the Wings Dance Company and the Theatre Department, and The Atlanta Camerata. She is currently with the Capitol City Opera Company of Atlanta.
In 2002 she was coordinator and builder of the costumes for the remake of The Great Locomotive Chase for the Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive History; a Smithsonian Institution affiliate in Kennesaw.
Her love of history has led her to design and build period costumes for The Root House Museum in Marietta, Georgia, and for many re-enactors of all eras.
Mrs. Cole and Avery Gallery were featured on Fox 5 News Atlanta seeking the public's help in locating the owner of an old portrait that has been in the possession of Avery Gallery for over 20 years. Mrs. Cole was instrumental in narrowing down the age of the portrait to a specific era. Visit our website at http://www.averygallery.com to watch the video.
