Marietta High School football team opens season with 'away' game in England (b985.com) — Marietta High School's Blue Devils are opening their football season overseas today, facing the NFL Academy in Loughborough, England, with a community watch party at Marietta Melt Yard tonight. Seventy-five players and staff are combining schoolwork, international travel, and a service project, and the NFL Academy will visit Marietta for a return game next year.
   

2. 'My name is Ant, and I'm in need of a loving home!' (cobbcountycourier.com) — Cobb County Animal Services in Marietta is featuring a 9-week-old female tabby-and-white kitten named Ant who's ready for adoption as a new family member. The shelter now prefers, but doesn't require, appointments for visits, while walk-ins are welcome for strays, lost pets, and reclaims. Locals can view adoptable pets and book visits online or call the shelter directly.

Mama Shelter Dog Watches Her Babies Leave One by One & Barks at Human, Begging To Be Let Out (dogtime.com) — A 2-year-old dog named Sandy is urgently seeking adoption from Cobb County Animal Services in Marietta after watching all eight of her puppies find homes while she remains behind. Described as gentle, quiet in her kennel, and very affectionate outside, she's now on the shelter's urgent list after more than two months there. Local residents can adopt her directly in Marietta.
