Information And Assistance For Those Facing Eviction In Marietta

This is an extremely difficult time for many of our Cobb residents, especially those who may be facing eviction.

August 27, 2020

This is an extremely difficult time for many of our Cobb residents, especially those who may be facing eviction. While emergency orders related to COVID-19 did limit judicial actions to only those that were essential through mid-August, courts are beginning to open to address pending judicial matters, including those scheduled before March 14.

If you have been issued an eviction order, especially prior to March 14, Magistrate Court is now allowing those pending matters to move forward. They, however, have been allowing representatives from the Star-C program to work with tenants and landlords of multi-family apartments to settle outstanding payments with CARES Act funding the county received. To learn more about the Star-C program, visit star-c.org.

Cobb commissioners received a program proposal to address tenants who do not qualify under the Star-C program. That program is likely to be on our agenda on Sept. 8 with adequate support from commissioners.
