Lost Cell Phone Sends Cobb Sex Offender to Jail
An 85-year-old homeless man had child porn on his cellphone, which he left behind at a Starbucks on the Marietta Square.

MARIETTA, GA -- A registered sex offender who lost his cellphone -- that was full of child porn images -- at a Marietta Starbucks is now behind bars.
Carl Alfred Iverson, 85, pled guilty on Wednesday to eight counts of sexual exploitation of children.
Iverson, who is homeless, left his cellphone at the coffee shop back in September 2015. The store employees were trying to figure out who owned the phone when they discovered photos and videos containing the images and called police.

Store workers identified Iverson as a regular customer. He was then interviewed by police, where he admitted owning the phone and downloading pornography on the device.
Iverson pled guilty in April 2015 to child exploitation after having obscene internet contact with a detective whom Iverson believed to be a 14-year-old child. Iverson had been sentenced to 10 years with 30 days to serve in custody and the rest on probation. That conviction put him on the Georgia Sex Offender Registry and during his probation, Iverson’s internet use was to be restricted to when he paid bills, and then only under supervision.
