Marietta Police Buys More Than 200 Body, Vehicle Cameras

The department is buying the equipment from Utility Inc., based in Decatur.

MARIETTA, GA -- The Marietta Police Department has bought 142 body cameras and 70 in-vehicle cameras from Decatur, GA-based Utility Inc.

Police have also 130 integrated vehicle communication systems, turning each patrol car into a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot. The city of Marietta is also purchasing 25 in-vehicle cameras for the fire department.

"Police accountability and transparency require the most secure and reliable video recording," said Robert McKeeman, CEO of Utility. "Only our BodyWorn camera provides this. Police officers should focus on protecting and serving the public rather than being videographers. Our goal is to help prevent situations from turning into incidents, and for officers to go home safely at the end of their shifts."
