Marietta Mayor Steve Tumlin Named 2026 APWA Georgia Elected Official of the Year (cobbcountycourier.com) — Marietta Mayor Steve "Thunder" Tumlin has been named the 2026 Elected Official of the Year by the Georgia Chapter of the American Public Works Association, honoring his leadership on the city's infrastructure. The award, presented at the Aug. 12 Marietta City Council meeting, highlights recent streetscape upgrades, bridge replacement, and stronger support for local public works staff and planning.
   

4. Trump keeps 2028 door cracked, while calling law 'very strong' prohibiting third term (theday.com) — Trump's recent stop in Marietta included a joking "candidacy" announcement that fed ongoing speculation about whether he'll try to seek a legally barred third term in 2028. Legal scholars in the story overwhelmingly say the 22nd Amendment makes another Trump run impossible, but note his teasing rhetoric keeps Republican hopefuls and opponents off balance.
