Marietta Students Win Awards at Spoken Language Contest

Marietta Middle School and High School students interviewed with judges and earned scores on their ability to speak their language of study.

Five and 12 students recently earned Superior, Excellent or Good Performance ribbons at the 2012 Foreign Language Association of Georgia (FLAG) Spoken Language Contest.

Awards to MMS students include:

  • Superior Performance Blue ribbons to Maggie Garrett and Asia Hypsher (French I);
  • Superior Performance Blue ribbons to Olivia Kiklica and Nicholas Rios (German II);
  • Excellent Performance Red ribbon to Elizabeth DuPree (French II); and
  • Good Performance White ribbon to Samantha Daigle (Spanish II).

“All the students worked hard to prepare for the FLAG Spoken Language contest, and they were strong competitors, and they represented us well at the state competition,” said Diane Crisafi, MMS Department Chair, in a press release.

  • Sade Tiabo, 2nd year (Spanish),
  • Harriet Haisty, 3rd year (Spanish),
  • Caseus McCleskey, 3rd year (Spanish),
  • Michael Beck, 4th year (Spanish) and
  • Katie Ault, 3rd year (French).

MHS students awarded Excellent Performance Red ribbons include:

  • Vaidehi Shah (Spanish I),
  • Justin Seward (Spanish IV),
  • Muna Aniemeka (Latin I),
  • Sarah Moore (Latin III) and
  • Andrew Judd (Latin IV).

Keturah Jones (Spanish I) earned a Good Performance White ribbon.
