Marietta Window-covering Business Grows into a Family Affair
Despite never thinking of themselves as entrepreneurs, Jeff and Ashley Reese's franchise business is up 52 percent in 2017
MARIETTA, Ga (July 30, 2017) – When Jeff and Ashley Reese of Marietta launched Budget Blinds Serving West Marietta as a second career in 2014, they never thought of themselves as entrepreneurs or dreamed it would grow into a full-fledged family business. But the local Cobb County representative of the leading custom window-covering provider in North America celebrates its third anniversary in December.
Jeff Reese wanted something new after 30 years in corporate sales, mortgage banking and church ministry, and heard a radio commercial about starting a Budget Blinds home-based franchisee. Despite Ashley’s full-time job as a Kindergarten teacher, the two took the leap, received the franchisor-provided training and saw their business grow – so much so that Budget Blinds Serving West Marietta is now one of the fastest-growing Budget Blinds territories among the 1,300 in the company.
Jeff says his window covering installations in Marietta, West Marietta, Powder Springs, Hiram, Dallas and north Atlanta are up 52 percent so far this year.

“While we always wanted to own our own business, the idea of walking away from a traditional 9-to-5 job was scary at first,” he says. “But that’s what attracted us to a franchise model like Budget Blinds: they provide the structures, training and leads you need to be the entrepreneurs you always wanted to be. It’s demanding work to be sure – but we’ve never felt such pride of ownership as a family.”
Two of the Reeses’ three son and daughters that live locally provide installation and administration support when they can.

Reese is convinced that home-based franchising is the wave of the future for aspiring individuals, couples and families who want to take control of their financial futures but don’t necessarily want to start their own business from scratch.
“I like to think of franchising as being able to harvest the fruit from fields I didn’t have to plant,” he says. “It makes entrepreneurship possible.”
