MCS Counselor Leads 5,000 in Walk for Lupus Now

Adair White-Johnson, of Marietta City Schools, has been a top walker each year, and this year she is leading a team of supporters and family and friends.

Adair White-Johnson, a Counselor, is one of the 2012 Faces of Hope for the sixth Walk for Lupus Now scheduled for Saturday.

The Atlanta Walk is the largest in the nation with over 5,000 walkers. It raises essential funds for the Georgia Chapter of the Lupus Foundation of America.

White-Johnson has been a top walker each year, and this year she is leading a team of supporters and family and friends.

Ninety percent of every dollar donated stays in Georgia to ensure the Lupus Foundation of America continues to provide and expand free educational programs and advocacy and awareness efforts including nine symposiums and programs and new support groups in new communities across Georgia.

Lupus Foundation of America also supports the national research efforts funding and advocating for investment in lupus.

Lupus affects men, women and children and is a significant, life-diminishing and life-threatening disease that can cause significant damage to the body, including the heart, lungs, kidneys and brain, as well as skin and joints at any time.

2012 Faces of Hope:

  • Tristan Depalobos, a young male living with lupus from the Philippines, aged 30;
  • Adair White-Johnson, a long time chapter volunteer and top walker living with lupus, 41; and
  • Jainah Roberson, just turned eight-years-old, diagnosed with lupus at age six.
