Mother Killed In Marietta Interstate Crash Was 'A Hero': Report
The Monroe woman was helping a driver in a crash when she was hit by a vehicle Saturday.
MARIETTA, GA — A mother who died Saturday helping a driver who had crashed into a guard rail on Interstate 75 south is being called a hero, 11Alive reported Thursday.
The family of Monroe resident Sarah Bolt described her to 11Alive as selfless and loving. The outlet reported Bolt would have turned 39-years-old Wednesday.
Marietta Police said Saturday the crash happened around 12:45 a.m. A Kia Sedona was heading south on the interstate, where the driver lost control of the Kia for unknown reasons, police said.

The Sedona went across all lanes and hit the median barrier before going back across all lanes and hitting a right guard rail, police said. The Sedona, partially stopped in the far right lane, was hit by multiple vehicles, police said.
Simultaneously, a black Dodge Challenger in the far right lane also lost control and hit two pedestrians that were stopped on the right-hand shoulder as they tried to report the initial crash and render aid, police said.

Bolt was identified by police as one of the pedestrians. Police said she was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died of those injuries.
The driver of the Sedona sustained minor injuries and was released at the scene. The second pedestrian was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital with serious injuries, police said. The driver of the Challenger was not injured and was released at the scene.
An Ever Loved fundraiser was established to help raise money to send Bolt's five children to college. As of 10:40 a.m. Thursday, the fundraiser had gathered nearly $13,000 of its $50,000 goal.
