Murder Suspect Killed In Cobb Police Shooting, GBI Says
Authorities say a man wanted on a murder warrant was killed in a police shooting in Cobb County.

MARIETTA, GA — A police shooting killed a murder suspect Tuesday evening near Leland Drive, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said Wednesday.
The shooting involving Cobb County Police killed Damian Strozier, 31, of Atlanta, the GBI said. No officers were injured in the shooting, authorities said.
Officers responded to the area around 1 p.m. to Leland and Windy Hill Road in efforts to locate Strozier, who police said was the subject of an outstanding murder warrant. The GBI said the suspected murder happened in Fulton County.

During the Cobb incident, Strozier pointed a gun at an officer, who then fired his service weapon, police said. Strozier then ran from the scene, and a be-on-the-lookout was issued, police said.

SWAT Team members found Strozier in the woods behind an apartment complex near Leland Drive, the GBI said.
Several officers shot at Strozier, hitting him multiple times, and Strozier was pronounced dead at the scene, the GBI said. Authorities did not say if Strozier shot at the officers.
Once the GBI's investigation is complete, the case will be turned over to the Cobb County District Attorney’s Office for review.
