SCANA Energy Homework Center At Dunleith Elementary Welcomes The Atlanta Hawks
The city's favorite athletes will be in Marietta on St. Patrick's Day.

SCANA Energy will celebrate the end-of-school year at its homework center at Dunleith Elementary School with a special appearance by the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday, March 17, from 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. at Dunleith Elementary on 120 Saine Drive in Marietta.

The homework center visit will feature the Atlanta Hawks Basketball Development Team presenting the NBA Skills Challenge that includes activity stations where students learn dribbling and shooting techniques, perform agility and exercise drills, and stretching. The homework center students will also enjoy appearances by the Atlanta Hawks Cheerleaders and Harry the Hawk teaching about healthy eating and the importance of exercise. “As a proud partner with SCANA Energy, the Atlanta Hawks Community Basketball Staff is excited to engage with the youth of Dunleith Elementary School in an educational basketball program that emphasizes the importance of fitness and a healthy lifestyle,” says Jon Babul, Director of Basketball Programs for the Atlanta Hawks.
The Dunleith Elementary Homework Center operates from 3:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday. The center serves 30 fourth and fifth grade students. “The SCANA Energy homework program has been a welcomed part of the Dunleith community for the past four years. During this time, our students were afforded the opportunity to participate in a program that was not only academically engaging, but fun as well,” says Dr. Nikea Hurt, principal of Dunleith.

SCANA Energy Homework Centers provide a safe and structured study environment where students can complete their class assignments and learn proper study skills. Each homework center operates with two certified teachers who are responsible for the total management of the program. SCANA Energy provides funds for the teachers, an assistant, snacks, and student incentives. Additional Georgia Homework Centers include elementary schools in East Point, Lilburn, Lithonia, Macon, Rome, and Tucker.
