Sprayberry School Stabbing: Teen Charged With Injuring Student
The 18-year-old student who was stabbed at Sprayberry High School was in critical condition, police said.
MARIETTA, GA — A 17-year-old boy is facing charges after police say a fight at Sprayberry High School Wednesday ended with one student stabbing another in the bathroom.
While Cobb County school officials did not initially release the full nature of the incident, Cobb County Police on Thursday confirmed a stabbing at the Sandy Plains Road high school.
Police said when they arrived around 11:15 a.m. to the scene, they found an 18-year-old student with multiple puncture wounds. He was taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in critical condition, police said.

Witnesses told officers that the bathroom fight escalated and led to the stabbing, police said.
Police identified the suspect as Aedan Smith, of Marietta. Smith was charged on suspicion of aggravated assault and carrying a weapon within a school safety zone, police said. He was taken to the Cobb County Adult Detention Center, police said.

Parents were notified of the incident early Wednesday morning via an emailed letter from Sprayberry Principal Sara Fetterman. Patch has obtained a copy of the letter.
Fetterman said the stabbing prompted a code red at the school before going into a code green with an increased police presence.
She added school safety is a priority for Sprayberry.
