The Walker School's Connor Barre Scores Perfect "36" on ACT College Admission Test
One of Just 1/10 of One Percent of Students Who Achieve the Top Score

Connor Barre, a junior at The Walker School in Cobb County, has achieved an honor few students can match: a composite score of 36, the highest possible score on the ACT college admission and placement exam. The ACT reports that his score is extremely rare, with less than one-tenth of one percent of all test takers earning the top score. Among ACT-tested U.S. high school graduates in the class of 2014, only 1407 out of 1.85 million students earned a composite score of 36.
Barre hasn’t decided on a college yet, but plans to double major in Computer Engineering and Entrepreneurship or Business Management, and hopes to launch a tech startup.
- In his spare time, he participates in the No Strings Attached Players, the school’s show choir, and sings in the Piano Key Neckties, the school’s A Capella group for boys.
- He was recently elected to the school’s Honor Council, serves as president and founder of the Strategy Games club, and is the historian for the school’s Tri-M chapter (music honor society).
- He participates in Random Acts of Kindness, the nonprofit “To Write Love On Her Arms,” the Thespian Honor Society troupe (6768), and Mu Alpha Theta. He’s also a counselor at YMCA Camp Thunderbird.
Jack Hall, The Walker School’s Head of School, said “While academic excellence is at the core of our program at The Walker School, opportunities abound beyond the classroom as well. Connor, like most Walker students, participates enthusiastically in extra-curricular activities that make him the kind of well-balanced student who’ll go on to great things, in college and beyond.”

About the ACT:
- The ACT consists of tests in English, mathematics, reading and science. Each test is scored on a scale of 1-36, and a student’s composite score is the average of the four test scores. Some students also take ACT’s optional Writing Test, but the score for that test is reported separately and is not included within the ACT composite score.
- ACT test scores are accepted by all major U.S. colleges. Exceptional scores of 36 provide colleges with evidence of student readiness for the academic rigors that lie ahead.
