ATLANTA, GA — To show national unity and honor front-line workers amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the U.S. Navy Blue Angels and U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds dispatched their demonstration jet squadrons to Atlanta for a flyover Saturday afternoon.

As scheduled from 1:35 p.m. to 2 p.m., the Blue Angels and the Thunderbirds flew over the metro area. Health care workers stood outside area hospitals to receive their salute, while local residents came out to locations like the National Mall to see the display.

The route took the jets from Cobb County southeast into Atlanta and DeKalb County, made a loop in northern Fulton County and looped again in the heart of the city. From there it headed south past the international airport and ended in the Newnan area. The Atlanta flyover followed stops in Baltimore and DC. Saturday's flyover is part of the "America Strong" tour previously announced by President Trump.
