Chancey Hired as City Administrator for the City of Monroe, Ga.

Matthew Chancey has been filling in as interim city administrator for the City of Monroe since Sept. 28. He was hired full time effective Feb. 12, 2013

Matthew Chancey was hired full time this week to the position of city administrator to the City of Monroe, Ga. He was appointed to the interim position following the resignation of former administrator Julian Jackson who took a position with the newly formed city of Peachtree Corners.

Monroe Mayor Greg Thompson sent out a memo Thursday advising Chancey had been hired the position. The appointment became effective following Tuesday's City Council meeting of Feb. 12, 2013.

"We feel that Matthew is highly qualified for the position, holding a degree in B.S.Ed in Technology Education from the University of Georgia, as well as a Masters in Public Administration from Valdosta State University," Thompson wrote in the memo.

Chancey has been working with the city since he was 19. He graduated from Monroe Area High School in 2000. He went on to earn a master’s degree in public administration from Valdosta State University after graduating from the University of Georgia. He held the position of Monroe city planner for the two years preceding his appointment as interim city administrator.
