• City of Monticello flip-flops on budget, millage rate (themonticellonews.com) — Monticello's city council has narrowly approved a 0.5-mill property tax increase and a $10.9 million FY27 budget that includes 5% raises for city employees after intense debate and a walkout threat from the electric superintendent. The decision means a homeowner with a $325,000 property will pay about $70 more, as leaders say they've already cut most feasible expenses and fear losing staff without raises.
