Teen Indicted For Shooting Death of Teen Couple

A grand jury handed down a five-count indictment against Quintavius Walker, charging him with killing Jaquille Thomas and Angelique Bowman.

NORCROSS, GA -- A teenager from Tucker has been indicted by a grand jury in the shooting death of a teen couple near Norcross.

The five-count indictment charges that Quintavius Walker, who was 17 at the time of the January shootings, gunned down Jaquille Thomas, 18, and Thomas’ girlfriend, Angelique Bowman, 19.

The bodies of Thomas and Bowman were discovered about 200 yards apart on January 24 in the 6000 block of Wandering Way -- far from where both lived in Stone Mountain.

The Gwinnett Daily Post reports that police say Walker has acknowledged shooting Thomas, but said it was in self-defense after Thomas became aggressive toward him.

He told police the couple was there to sell a gun. Thomas did have a gun, police said, but it was inside his pocket when his body was found.

Bowman was not armed.

At a vigil for the couple days after their shooting, family members said the two were preparing to start school at Gwinnett College.

Since January, police say they have linked Walker to several other crimes, including a shooting in the Ben Hill neighborhood of Atlanta and a burglary in his Tucker neighborhood.

Detectives also testified that there was a warrant for his arrest for beating up a teacher at Meadowcreek High School.
