Bicyclist Dies Following Collision With School Bus

The 21-year-old man who was hit by a bus while riding a bicycle on a Georgia 400 exit ramp in Roswell has passed away.

Cody Markel Dawson of Johns Creek died on Sunday from injuries he sustained in the fatal crash, which occurred around 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, Roswell police said.
Dawson was riding the bike southbound on the northbound exit ramp at the Holcomb Bridge Road Interchange when he made a turn onto S.R. 400 and crossed into the path of a bus, Roswell police spokesperson Zachary Frommer said.

The bus hit Dawson, and the victim was transported to North Fulton Hospital where he passed away. The bus, which belonged to College Park-based Woodward Academy, had a number of students aboard the vehicle, but no other injuries were reported, Frommer said.
No charges have been filed at this time, and Roswell Police Department Traffic Enforcement Unit continues to investigate the crash.
