“I’m looking forward to becoming a better man, learning life lessons and becoming a leader,” Ross said.
He felt comfortable around current Navy team members.
“It was crazy how close everybody on the football team was,” said Ross. “You wouldn’t think that all of them came from different parts of the United States. They were all so close. I felt like I was part of the brotherhood when I was there.”
Also announcing their decisions were who will play quarterback for Harvard University; , who will play wide receiver for Wofford College; , who will be a running back for Reinhardt College and Juan Orozco, slated to play defensive lineman for Tusculum College.
“After football life, Harvard can set me up for things that other schools can’t do,” said Meyer, sporting a crimson Harvard baseball cap. “They have a senior quarterback but, hopefully, I’ll be able to take his spot as a sophomore.”
Meyer said he attended the Princeton-Harvard game last fall. “It didn’t have as many fans as an SEC game, but it’s alright.”
Meyer also liked Harvard because it is one of the oldest colleges in the United States. Harvard celebrated the 375th anniversary of its founding in 2011.
