62 Displaced After Fire Erupts In Roswell Apartment Building

Firefighters say they were able to rescue a group of residents trapped on a second-floor balcony after flames sparked in Roswell.

ROSWELL, GA — More than 60 people were displaced after a fire tore through a Roswell apartment building, where people were trapped Thursday, fire officials say.

Roswell Fire on Friday said the blaze broke out around 7:30 p.m. at the Enclave apartment complex in the 11000 block of Alpharetta Highway.

When first responders arrived, fire officials said flames burst from the first floor to the roof and had residents trapped on a second-floor balcony.

Crews were able to safely rescue all residents, two cats and a dog from the burning building; but, fire officials said two residents had to be treated on scene for smoke inhalation. They did not have to be taken to a hospital, fire officials said.

In total, fire officials said 58 adults, four children and seven pets were displaced. They are being assisted by multiple agencies.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
