The fifth annual Roswell Lavender Festival will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 13 at Barrington Hall.
Roswell notes the free event is “devoted to all things lavender,” and will include art classes and demonstrations, food samples, arts and crafts, antiques, local food vendors, children’s activities and the popular Zen Zone.

As festival-goers arrive, they will be greeted by the event’s “Lavender Queens” and will then enjoy walking through the festival, perusing unique art and antiques, a pottery exhibit with a local artist presenting wheel demonstrations, plant and herb sales along with other specialty garden items, and a food and picnic area where local food vendors will provide a variety of specialty foods.
Returning again this year is a specialty lavender beer brewed by a popular Athens-based brewery and specialty lavender cocktail created by The Mill Kitchen.
The 2015 demonstration schedule is still being finalized, Roswell said in its press release. However, previous festivals have hosted topics including lavender wand-making, creating lavender bath salts, and presentations on cultivating lavender plantings.
Throughout the day, lavender-infused specialty foods can also be sampled on the hour. Previous festival selections have included items such as lavender ice cream, cookies, pasta and marshmallows.
The front yard of the historic home will host children’s activities, including crafts, historic games, and a special visit from the Lavender Fairy. Another popular area is “The Zen Zone,” which is devoted to the healing properties of lavender and features techniques such as crystal bowl therapy, hypnotherapy and aromatherapy. Guests can participate in a massage session, outdoor yoga and Pilates classes. New this year is the meditation tent, sponsored by Roswell Yoga Life.
Local musicians contribute to the festival atmosphere with tunes ranging from Americana, folk, country and independent.
Parking for the festival is offsite and a trolley provides ongoing transportation between parking lots and the festival entrance.
