Funeral Services Planned For Roswell Officer Who Passed Away
Scott David Walters served with the Roswell Police Department since 1997.

Funeral services are scheduled for Monday for the Roswell police officer who passed away suddenly late last week.
The funeral for Lt Scott David Walters, 41, of Canton, will take place at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27 at First Baptist Church of Woodstock. The family will accept friends at Darby Funeral Home in Canton from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26.
Walters was born in Tampa, Florida, and leaves behind his wife of 16 years, Marjorie, and their 11-year-old son, Joshua.

“When Scott wasn’t at work, you could find he (sic) and Joshua in the woods, hunting, camping, canoeing, shooting or anything they could find to do together,” according to his obituary. “They were each other’s best friends and always loved being together.”
Walters served with the Roswell Police Department since January 1997. During his tenure, Walter served as field training officer, field training officer coordinator, jail instructor and a firearms instructor.

Most recently, he commanded the agency’s Uniform Patrol “C” Squad, “but his influence was reached well beyond one squad.”
“There is a void throughout the police department that will never be filled,” his obituary states. “We stand watch together, a thin blue line.”
Walters is preceded in death by his mother, Janet W. Walters and his grandparents, H.K. and Evelyn Walters.
He is also survived by his parents, Johnny and Michele Walters; aunt and uncle, Patsy and Steve Saxs; and cousins, Sara and Benjamin Saxs.
He leaves behind childhood friends Frank and Don Warren, Paul Fernandez and Fernando Amador.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made to a scholarship fund that has been set up for Joshua Walters, the place of which will be announced at a later date.
