Are you ready for another round of picks?
Northview at : The one thing that will clear up what has been an unusual race for the final two playoff spots in Region 6-AAAAA is a Centennial win this Friday. The Knights (4-5, 3-2 in the region) can lock up the No. 3 spot over Northview (3-6, 2-3), which has its own playoff aspirations. If Northview wins, and Milton loses to Roswell, the Titans can leap-frog from fifth to third and reach their first playoff in school history. But get this: if Northview and Milton win, there will be a three-way tie that would have to be broken to determine both the third and fourth playoff positions. Centennial 32, Northview 24.
Milton at : It may be payback time for the Milton Eagles against their biggest rival. Not only can Milton (3-6) make the playoffs with a win at Roswell this week, it can hand the Hornets their first 0-10 season in their 62-year history. But history hasn’t been on Milton’s side in this rivalry. The Eagles have won only four times in the last 25 meetings with Roswell and are just 21-34-1 all-time. We’re not saying Roswell will rise up and finally put a game together this Friday. The Hornets have burned this predictor before. Just don’t be surprised if history repeats itself. Milton 23, Roswell 21.
Buford at : The good news is that Blessed Trinity will host a first-round playoff game on Nov. 11. The bad news is that the expectation is the Titans won’t host the game as the Region 6-AA top seed. That's not surprisingly, of course, considering that four-time defending state champion Buford comes to Roswell this week for the region championship game. The mighty Wolves are 9-0, ranked No. 1 and the clear favorite to win it all again. Buford has allowed only 34 points all season and has shut out five opponents, including a 42-0 win over Blessed Trinity in the season-opener. But this isn’t the same Blessed Trinity team that started the season. The Titans have won five in a row, including wins over traditional powers Lovett and Westminster. But beating Buford is a tall order. Buford 42, Blessed Trinity 28.
SW Atlanta at : Fellowship’s chances of finishing with a .500 record are dependent on beating a team it defeated just two weeks ago. The Paladins won that meeting 30-18. No reason to think that won’t happen again. Fellowship 30, Southwest Atlanta 18.
