Here are the top five stories today in Roswell:

  1. Fulton County announced that "surges in the real estate market" will lead to increased property values for many property owners. The annual 2022 notices of assessment should be arriving in the mail within a week. If property owners do not believe the assessment reflects fair market value, they can appeal before the deadline. (MDJ Online)
  2. On Jul. 5 the Roswell Design Review Board will consider a new car wash proposal at 10469, 10471 and 10473 Alpharetta Street. The proposed 4,725-square foot car wash, Wash Factory Express Roswell, would combine three lots into one. The plans include demolishing the existing buildings, removing 21 existing trees, and replacing them with 18 new trees to improve the landscaping. (The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
  3. Earlier this week, an employee was impaled by a crowbar in the Roswell Home Depot. On Tuesday, a 54-year-old woman was standing on a forklift in the store's receiving area when she was impaled by a crowbar that was sticking out of a cardboard compactor. The accident occurred at the Market Center at Holcomb Woods shopping center at around 8:15 p.m. The victim, a mother of two, had surgery on Tuesday and is stable. (WSB Atlanta)
  4. The City of Roswell announced that it will host Twilight at Barrington Hall to celebrate Independence Day on Sunday, Jul. 3, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The family-friendly celebration will include a live concert by Roswell New Horizons Pops Band, food trucks, a patriotic classic movie screening, and more.   5. On Monday, Jun. 20, the German Cultural Center of the Southeast, the Goethe-Zentrum Atlanta, will host an "evening of local beer and FUNdraising." The event starts at 6:00 p.m. and ends at 9:00 p.m., and is located at Gate City Brewing Company, 43 Magnolia Street in Roswell. (Roswell Patch)
