Roswell raises property taxes nearly 19% after months of pushback (thegeorgiasun.com) — Roswell City Council has approved a 5.9-mill property tax rate, nearly a 19% hike, after weeks of heated public hearings and resident pushback. For a $575,000 home, city taxes before exemptions rise to about $1,357, with bills expected to mail by late October. Council members split over whether the increase is necessary now or should wait until the 2027 budget.
   

2. West Nile detected again at Metro Atlanta park (wsbtv.com) — Mosquitoes at Roswell Area Park have again tested positive for West Nile virus, and Fulton County's contractor is spraying within a quarter-mile of the affected spots. The park remains open, but Roswell officials urge you to wear repellent, cover up, and be extra cautious at dawn and dusk to reduce mosquito bites.
   

3. North Fulton: New Momentum (georgiatrend.com) — Roswell is at the center of North Fulton's latest growth wave, with the $120 million Hillrose Market rising next to City Hall and plans advancing to redevelop the former Independence High School site to better link the city's two downtowns. City leaders emphasize walkability, park investments along the Chattahoochee, and partnerships that balance economic momentum with Roswell's small-town character.
   

4. Georgia counselors see more addiction cases as investigators probe Ole Miss student deaths (wsbtv.com) — Roswell-based addiction counselors report a sharp rise in patients hooked on synthetic Kratom products sold at gas stations and smoke shops, as investigators probe whether similar pills played a role in two Ole Miss student deaths. Local therapists warn that these over-the-counter drugs can act on the brain's opioid receptors and stress that many users underestimate the risks.
