ROSWELL, GA -- The city of Roswell on Friday celebrated the installation of the new Sweet Apple Elementary Community Playground.

Mayor Jere Wood and members of the City Council were joined by staff from the Roswell’s Recreation and Parks Department, Sweet Apple Elementary School and Fulton County School System for the ribbon cutting.

The new playground will be used by the elementary school during school hours and by the community during non-school hours as part of a joint use agreement between the city and Fulton County Schools.

The school’s original playground, which dated back to 2001, was replaced as part of Roswell's Recreation, Parks, Historic and Cultural Affairs Department’s Playground Replacement Program.

The $160,000 new playground features the first gravity rail component in the Southeast, which is similar to a zip line, and a generation swing, on which an adult and child can both sit and face each other while swinging.
