UPDATE: Roswell Principal Tells Parents Shooting Threat "Not Credible"

Principal Jerome Huff said the student "responsible for spreading the rumor will be disciplined."

Roswell High School’s principal told parents late Wednesday afternoon that the threat of a shooting that will take place on Thursday “is not credible.”

Principal Jerome Huff provided the update in a recorded telephone message, the contents of which were released by the Fulton County School System.

“The student responsible for spreading the rumor will be disciplined according to the student code of conduct,” he said. “We had a normal day at school today and I look forward to the same tomorrow. Thank you for your support and partnership as we handled this serious matter.”

Students were greeted with an increased police presence Wednesday due to the threat, which was allegedly posted Tuesday evening on Instagram and Snapchat accounts of students, Huff said.

Fulton County Schools spokesperson Samantha Evans said the system was made aware of the threat, and provided beefed up security at the school on Wednesday.

Huff reiterated to parents that the school, as well as the police department, are taking the matter “very seriously,” as they have deployed additional support from the school police department and officers with the Roswell Police Department.

“Parents, hopefully you know me by now and you know that I will do everything within my power to keep our students safe,” Huff previously said in a message to parents. “We have additional resources for support at our disposal. However, if you feel you need to keep your child home Thursday that will be completely up to you. We will follow our regular school schedule and continue to monitor students.”
