2nd Victim Dies After Car Crashes Into Group Waiting on Bus (UPDATED)

Roswell police say the driver of the vehicle swerved while trying to avoid hitting a MARTA bus and struck three people.

ROSWELL, GA -- Another victim has passed away from injuries sustained Thursday afternoon when a car crashed into a group of people waiting on a MARTA bus in Roswell.

Roswell police spokesperson Lisa Holland confirmed the second victim, a woman whose name has not been released, died at the hospital.

A male victim, who WSB-TV said has been identified as 55-year-old Curtis Freeman, passed away at the scene of the crash, which occurred on S.R. 9/Alpharetta Street at Frazier Street in downtown Roswell.

Holland said the driver of a vehicle was traveling southbound on Alpharetta Street behind a MARTA bus, which proceeded to stop and pick up pedestrians waiting at the bus stop.

The female driver swerved to avoid hitting the back of the bus, went off the roadway and hit three pedestrians waiting to get on to that bus," Holland added.

A third person remains hospitalized, but that person's condition is unknown at this time. Holland stated charges are pending against the driver since there will be an investigation.
