ROSWELL, GA — Peter Vanstrom, a long-time Roswell resident and business owner, is running for Roswell City Council Post 4, he announced Monday.

“For over 30 years, my wife Betty, our two daughters and I have enjoyed the natural and historic beauty of Roswell’s small-town charm, the wonderful people, and our family- friendly neighborhoods," Vanstrom said in a news release. "I feel strongly we can continue to protect and preserve our neighborhoods, our historic district, parks and river, and at the same time, promote smart business growth that proactively plans for traffic and infrastructure needs.

Vanstrom became active in the community when he teamed-up with his neighbors and worked with the city to ensure a resident-friendly project was created near the entrance of his neighborhood. Since then, he has served on the Roswell Planning Commission, as a stakeholder member of the Roswell 2040 Comprehensive Plan Committee, and as a board member of his neighborhood HOA.

“My experience from a resident’s perspective in zoning and redevelopment, and my commitment to put the customer first, means I bring skills needed to effectively represent the vision of Roswell that the residents want for their future," Vanstrom said.

"It is concerning because our city is stalling out, with many projects going unfinished or never getting started. We are missing opportunities to promote our town. We need to manage our continued growth in a way that protects the charm and character that attracted so many of us to Roswell in the first place while promoting active, healthy commercial corridors with strong businesses and places we can enjoy with our families.”

Vanstrom served as chairman of the Northlake Community Alliance Board of Trustees, a non-profit organization that managed a $1 million revitalization project near the Northlake area where his dental practice, Artistic Dentistry of Atlanta, is located.

Vanstrom earned his DDS from Emory University School of Dentistry and his bachelor of arts from the College of Letters and Science at the University of California, Santa Barbara.

“I have been blessed to build a business that has nearly quadrupled in size since we began. I owe the success of my business to my team. We follow a simple rule. The customer comes first, always. As your voice on city council, I will continue to put the customer, the residents of Roswell, first.”
