Petition Seeks To Keep East Roswell Target Open
The petition has received more than 1,300 signatures so far.
ROSWELL, GA -- Just a week after the news broke that Target would be closing its store on the eastern side of Roswell, a resident has created a petition pleading with the company to keep the location open.
The Keep Alpharetta Target Store Open petition, created by Chris Barton, has 1,351 supporters as of 4 p.m. Tuesday, and aims to get 1,500 people to sign on to its cause.
While the store at 2600 Holcomb Bridge Road is in Roswell's city limits, the zip code used in the area is defined as belonging to Alpharetta.

The big box retailer is set to close on Jan. 28, 2017.
"The decision to close a Target store is not made lightly," Target spokesperson Molly Snyder previously told Patch. "We typically decide to close a store after careful consideration of the long-term financial performance of a particular location."

The Roswell East location opened to customers in 2008, providing those on the east side of the city as well as nearby Alpharetta residents a chance to browse the store's aisles.
Snyder added any decision made to close a store comes as a result of seeing "several years of decreasing profitability."
"Eligible" store employees will be given the option to transfer to other Target stores, she added.
