The Roswell Police Department has released sketches of the two suspects who allegedly attacked one of their officers.

Officer John Lathem, who suffered cuts to his arm and face in an altercation with two men late Wednesday morning, met with Kelly Lawson, the forensic artist with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, to provide two sketches of the suspects who assaulted him yesterday, Roswell police spokesperson Lisa Holland said.

Around 10:40 a.m. Oct. 29, Lathem was patrolling the Champions Green Apartments, which sit off Holcomb Bridge Road, when he “noticed two suspicious males” near the 600 building on Belmont Drive, said Roswell police spokesperson Lisa Holland.

Lathem got out of his patrol vehicle and attempted to speak to the men when the fight started. Holland said the officer was attacked and was cut by a knife on his face and forearm.

“Lathem was able to fire his weapon and both men fled on foot,” she added.

Officers established a perimeter around the complex, and officers from Alpharetta and Johns Creek brought along their K-9s to assist in the search. Additionally, officers from both Milton and Dunwoody police departments also participated in the search efforts.

The agency is asking for the public to help identify the two men. Anyone with information on their identities and whereabouts is asked to call Roswell Police Department at (770) 640-4100.
