The initiative was launched as a project under the auspices of ArtsSWELL Children Festival of Art. It began with a grant from the city of Roswell to Jeff Mather, a Decatur-based artist and environmental sculptor.
Over the last 10 years, students from The Cottage School and other area schools and organizations, as well as artists around Roswell, have helped to create and install thousands of colorful pieces for the wall.
“RosWall was truly created by the community,” said Kathy LeNoir, who helped keep the project alive as chairperson of RoAR from 2002 until 2014. “As neighbors walked by, we encouraged them to place some pieces on the wall. People stopped to talk about it, saying that it brightened their days to drive by and see it.”
Founded in 2002, RoAR is an advocate for creating and bringing public art to Roswell. A plaque will honor this community project with special thanks to the city of Roswell, The Cottage School, and RoAR – Roswell Arts Renaissance.
