Roswell Curbside Recycling Customers Gain New Cart Placement

Roswell curbside recycling customers will see a change in the way recycling carts are placed on the curb beginning April 1.

ROSWELL, GA -- The City of Roswell recently announced curbside recycling customers will see a change in the way recycling carts are placed on the curb beginning April 1. Advanced Disposal, the City of Roswell’s curbside recycling contractor, is upgrading service vehicles to use an automated side-loading (ASL) truck.

This new process requires the use of 65-gallon containers and specific placement of the recycling container at the curb for collection. The recycling container must be placed at least three feet away from other objects (household garbage container, mailbox, etc.) in order for the truck’s arm and lift to work properly. All recyclable items must be placed in the container for collection. Cardboard must be cut or folded to fit inside the container.
As a reminder, the following items may be placed inside the curbside recycling container:
  • Glass
  • Plastics (#1-#7)
  • Paper
  • Newspaper
  • Cardboard boxes (broken to fit inside the container)
  • Junk mail and other paper products
  • Paperback and phone books
  • Paper grocery bags
  • Magazines
  • Cereal boxes and shoe boxes (flatten all boxes and/or cut them into sizes that will fit inside the container)
  • Cans

These items are not accepted:

  • Plastic bags or wraps
  • Styrofoam
  • Molded plastic (buckets and toys)
  • Window glass
  • Picture frame glass
  • Mirrors
  • Ceramics
  • Light bulbs
  • Food contaminated cardboard
  • Hardcover books
  • Photos
  • Tissue
  • Paper towels

Residents are asked to empty and rinse all food and beverage containers. The City of Roswell Recycling Center, 11570 Maxwell Road, accepts items that cannot be placed in the curbside recycling program. Contact the center at 770-442-8822 for more information.
Curbside recycling is voluntary and residents should contact the City of Roswell Solid Waste Division to request a container at 770-641-3961. Households that have an 18-gallon bin for curbside recycling, will receive a 65-gallon container replacement that is manufactured to use with the ASL equipment.
