The case came to light when Roswell police were tipped off March 10, 2015, of a possible drug transaction in a room at the Atlanta Hotel on Old Dogwood Road. The hotel, the district attorney's office said, "has long been a concern for police and Roswell residents because of reports of illegal drug activity."

Officers identified Lynn as a drug distributor, and he was arrested two days later as he was leaving the room with $1,100.

Police executed a search warrant, and unearthed heroin, cocaine, marijuana, digital scales and a loaded AK-47 in the hotel room.

Lynn was also found to be in possession of a .45 caliber handgun and a loaded 9 mm pistol at the time of his arrest.

The case against Lynn was prosecuted by Keith Lamar and Claire Farley. Fulton County District Attorney Office Investigator Robert Appell assisted in the case, and Lt. Detective Justin Reece from the Roswell Police Department led the initial investigation.
