Roswell Expands Aquatics Center To Adults Age 25 And Over

Starting Aug. 1, the Adult Aquatics Center will also extend its hours on select days and offer new evening fitness classes.

ROSWELL, GA -- Adults age 25 and up will now be able to experience the city of Roswell’s state-of-the-art Adult Aquatics Center.

Starting Aug. 1, the center, which was previously reserved for participants age 50 and over, will expand the age range of those served, as well as extend hours on select days and offer new evening fitness classes.

“We received a lot of feedback from the 49 and below adult community in regard to the age limit of the Aquatic Center and their desire to utilize the center to improve their health and wellness,” said Jeff Pruitt, interim director of the Roswell Recreation, Parks, Historic & Cultural Affairs Department. “It is our mission to deliver high-quality recreational, health and wellness opportunities to as many of our citizens as possible and to do so in a way that maximizes the utilization of existing facilities and residents’ tax dollars. So, making this change to allow more residents to benefit from the RAAC made great sense.”

This doesn't mean Roswell is turning its back on those age 50 and above, Pruitt said. In fact, the decision to extend hours on Tuesday and Thursday to 8:30 p.m. and Saturday to 6 p.m. (for lap swim only) came about because the center has not been heavily utilized by those residents during those times and because those hours are convenient for participants wanting to use the Center after work.

In addition to the many aquatics classes already offered by the center, the Center will feature new evening fitness classes, including Aqua Aerobics and Hydro Mix.

“We are excited about this change, as it will allow opportunities for adults of all ability levels within this expanded age range to experience this fantastic facility,” said Pruitt.

The RAAC is located at 830 Grimes Bridge Road in Roswell. The 12,000-square-foot facility, which opened in 2016, provides an unparalleled experience with its five-lane, warm-water therapeutic swimming pool, zero-depth entry, therapeutic whirlpool, and shower facilities. The RAAC also provides aquatic therapy for individuals with special needs to help them improve fitness skills, foster social skills, and develop life‐long leisure skills.
