Roswell Firefighters Can Now Bring Guns Into Stations

City leaders recently approved a change in its policy and procedures manual that would allow firearms to be stored in lock boxes.

ROSWELL, GA -- The Roswell City Council last week approved a revision to its employee policy to allow a group of public servants to bring guns inside fire stations.

Council members at their May 22 meeting approved revising Section 2.1 of the city's policies and procedures manual to allow fire station personnel to store their firearms in secure lock boxes within the station rather than inside their vehicles while they are on duty.

The city would have to provide the lock boxes to allow for the storing of the firearms inside the station, a project it estimates could cost $2,500. The purchase would be funded in the Fire Department's operating budget for fiscal year 2017.
