Roswell Will Help Catch Motorists Who Pass School Buses

The Roswell City Council on Monday approved entering into an agreement with the Fulton County School System to help catch motorists who violate the state’s school bus passing laws.

The council unanimously approved the agreement with the system, which outlines how the city will help in this matter.

According to the agreement, Roswell will provide law enforcement review of each violation transmitted by American Traffic Solutions, the company the school system uses to provide school bus arm cameras and services to administer the enforcement program while students are loading and unloading from buses.

The city will verify and approve the violation, and ATS will deliver the citation and collect fines from violators. As part of the agreement, Roswell will receive 50 percent of the fines from Fulton County Schools after all expenses have been paid to ATS.

The fines, which are set by state law, are $300 for the first offense, $750 for the second offense and $1,000 for each subsequent offense in a five year period.
