Sunshine on a Ranney Day To Makeover Hospital Rooms

The project will remake the sleep rooms in the family wing at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston.

ROSWELL, GA -- A Roswell-based nonprofit organization wants to make sure parents are as comfortable as possible when their children are undergoing treatment in the hospital.

Sunshine on a Ranney Day has announced plans to remake the parent sleep rooms at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston. Co-founder Holly Ranney said it's the largest makeover the organization will start.

The renovations will overhaul the entire wing, which includes nine sleep rooms, two community bathrooms and the hallway.

"We are going to make it look like a boutique hotel," said SOARD co-founder and Executive Director Holly Ranney.

In a video message explaining the project, Ranney added it was "really important" that the organization uses its connections to come together to make the rooms as inviting and comforting as possible for families in times of extreme stress.

The plans are a welcome surprise for the family of Tripp Halstead, the child who suffered severe brain damage when a tree limb fell on him nearly four years ago.

"You just needed, as a parent going through so much stress, so much heartache, a place to escape, and that's what Children's provided," mother Stacy Halstead said in a video message through tears.

Halstead added the renovation is going to be "awesome," stating that the splash of color and something more "soothing" will be great for families.

The reveal date is set for Dec. 8, Ranney added.

Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston is located on Clifton Road NE in Atlanta. Situated in DeKalb County on the Emory University campus, the hospital provides many services such as an Emergency Department and cardiac and transplant centers. It's also located close to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

"They are addressing a true need," Greg Holliday of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston said of SOARD's plans. "They are an incredible group and one worthy of support."
