Mayor Rusty Paul Faces Challenger In Sandy Springs Election

David Crim has qualified to challenge Paul while Le'Dor Milteer and Jody Reichel are in the running for the District 4 seat.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA -- The time to formally declare your intentions to seek elected office in Sandy Springs has come to a close, and voters will decide the outcome of two contested races in the Nov. 7 elections. Qualifying ended at noon Friday, and the office of mayor and the District 4 seat on the City Council will each have two candidates vying to win over the hearts and minds of their prospective constituents.

Incumbent Mayor Rusty Paul, who is seeking a second, four-year term, will be challenged by David Crim.

Two candidates -- Le’Dor Milteer and Jody Reichel -- have qualified to seek the District 4 seat held by incumbent City Councilman Gabriel Sterling, who is not running for re-election to the post (SIGN UP: Get Patch's Daily Newsletter and Real Time News Alerts. Incumbents John Paulson of District 1, Chris Burnett of District 3, Tibby DeJulio of District 5 and Andy Bauman of District 6 all qualified to seek re-election and will not face opposition. Steve Soteres, who qualified for the District 2 seat, will also run unopposed, as incumbent Ken Dishman is not running for another four-year term.

The last day to register to vote in the Nov. 7 municipal election is Oct. 10, and Fulton County will hold early voting Monday, Oct. 16 through Friday, Nov. 3. This will also include voting on Saturday, Oct. 28 and Sunday, Oct. 29. Please note this early voting time period does not include Saturday, Oct. 21 or Sunday, Oct. 22. Early voting locations will be announced in the coming weeks.
