Savannah to propel "critical" flood modeling with new funding (thestate.com) — Savannah has secured federal and state grants to finish flood modeling for all 24 of its drainage basins, a key step in planning future stormwater projects and reducing neighborhood flood risk. City officials say the $2.5 million effort, supported by a new stormwater fee and SPLOST funds, will guide which areas get improvements first, especially in fast-growing southern and western neighborhoods.
   

2. Family sues Savannah nursing facility over abuse allegations (wsav.com) — A Savannah family has filed a lawsuit accusing Riverview Health & Rehab Center of failing to protect an incapacitated woman from alleged neglect, physical abuse and sexual assault. The case cites prior complaints about another resident's behavior and a critical state inspection, and could prompt wider scrutiny of how local long-term care facilities safeguard vulnerable residents.
   

3. Josiah 'JB' Barney Riffle (familiesfirstcare.com) — A longtime Tybee Island shrimper who supplied seafood to local restaurants and received end-of-life care at Hospice Savannah has passed away at 74. He leaves children and grandchildren in Savannah, a legacy of generosity to churches and the marine science center, and a request that friends honor him by cherishing family time and the coastal waters he loved.
   

4. When will Georgia get its first frost of 2026? NWS data tells us (thestate.com) — Savannah residents can expect their average first frost around November 26, based on more than a century of National Weather Service data. The story explains how frost forms, compares Savannah's frost history to other Georgia cities, and highlights just how unusually early or late local frosts have occurred.
   

5. The Callous Daoboys, Oh, Sleeper & More Announced For 2027 AURA Fest (themosh.net) — AURA Fest is set to return to District Live in Savannah on January 23, 2027, headlined by mathcore band The Callous Daoboys. Local heavy music fans can catch a full day of metalcore and hardcore acts, including Oh, Sleeper, Left To Suffer, Great American Ghost, and several rising bands.
